Barehands Residency 2026:

Jejak Alami,Jiwa Membumi
 Bridging Art Across Asia
3rd November 2026 - 29th November 2026

HARTA presents Barehands Residency 2026: Jejak Alami, Jiwa Membumi, an exhibition bringing together artists from Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste to celebrate artistic exchange and diverse contemporary perspectives across Asia.

Inspired by the themes Jejak Alami (Earthbound Traces) and Jiwa Membumi (Rooted Spirits), the exhibition features works shaped by encounters with nature, cultural identities, shared experiences, and personal interpretations of place. Through different artistic practices and perspectives, the participating artists explore how art creates connections across cultures and borders.

Join us from 3 November to 29 November 2026 at HARTA.

Established in 2010 by renowned Malaysian printmaker Juhari Said at Akaldiulu, Barehands Residency has nurtured artistic collaborations through friendship, trust, and creative exchange. This year's residency took place across three creative spaces: Akaldiulu (Hulu Langat), Pantau Iraga (Sijangkang), and Chetak 17 (Wangsa Melawati), where artists immersed themselves in new environments and developed works inspired by their observations and experiences.

Bringing together 18 artists and three mentors from across the region, Barehands Residency 2026 celebrates the diversity of contemporary artistic expression while encouraging meaningful cultural dialogue. The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to discover how different experiences, environments, and perspectives come together through art.
