The Grace of The East

12th April - 27th April 2025

HARTA Gallery, in collaboration with KL Lifestyle Art Space (KLAS), proudly presents "The Grace of the East". Inspired by HABIB's Rantaian Kasih 2025 campaign, which highlights the cultural significance of the Wau, this exhibition pays homage to the enduring artistic heritage of Malaysia's East Coast, where tradition, craftsmanship and storytelling take flight - much like the majestic Wau that has long graced our skies.

A symbol of freedom, unity and artistry, the Wau is more than just a kite; it is a vessel of culture, carrying with it the intricate patterns and vibrant colors that define Malaysia's rich visual legacy. Crafted by skilled hands, its soaring form echoes the spirit of the East Coast - where the rhythms of the land, sea and sky shape the daily lives of its people.

This exhibition brings together masterful works by Khalil Ibrahim, Dato' Mohd Hoessein Enas, Ismail Mat Hussin, Rahmat Ramli and Mohamed Zain Idris who have immortalized the East Coast's landscapes, communities and traditions. Through evocative coastal scenes, expressive figures and bold abstractions, their works capture the essence of movement, freedom and cultural continuity - qualities that define both the Wau and the enduring artistry of the region.

More than a celebration of a artistic excellence, this exhibition is a reflection on heritage, resilience and the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. As we embrace the spirit of Hari Raya, this exhibition invites us to look skyward - to honor the past, uplift the present and let the winds of tradition carry us forward.
